Overlooking
the city of Cairo from the Citadel, Gohara
Palace (“Jewel Palace” in Arabic)
was where Muhammad Ali and his successors
received foreign dignitaries and other guests.
The museum preserves some historic furniture
in the throne room and a bedroom, and portraits
of the political players of the era line
the walls. Labels are in Arabic and English.
