The MSA invites you to explore Egypt's past through its museums, which house treasures from every era of history. In addition to such landmark institutions as the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, smaller museums offer focused looks at different periods, various aspects of Egyptian civilization, and specific areas of the country.
The MSA is currently sponsoring a wide-ranging
effort to develop all of Egypt's
museums into world-class institutions of culture
and education. Many established museums are currently
under renovation, and new museums are
being built both in Cairo and throughout Egypt.
You can browse the list of museums and click
on the links to find visitor information,
including hours, location, and admission
fees for each museum.
Scholars and students affiliated with recognized institutions may
apply to conduct research in any of these museums. For information on how to apply to take photographs or film for commercial purposes, please see the
Media Resources section.
