The
MSA is responsible for hundreds of
sites dating to every period of Egypt’s
past. Many have been designated as World
Heritage Sites
by UNESCO in recognition of their significance
to world history and culture. In this section,
you will find information for visitors,
including official hours
and
admission fees, along with a brief introduction
to the history and principal monuments
of each site. The
list of sites is
organized alphabetically,
by region,
or by the period to
which each site’s
main monuments date. When you visit,
please help us to preserve Egypt’s
heritage by treating our monuments
with the care and respect they deserve.
It is up to us
to safeguard them for future generations.
Access to certain sites is restricted in order to
protect them. However, a limited number of special permissions may be issued each
year to groups or individuals who wish to visit closed sites. For information on
application procedures and fees for visiting restricted sites, please click
here.
