The Flies of Ahhotep

This model of a pendant in the form of a fly was part of a marvelous necklace that was given to Queen Ahhotep by her sons Kamose and Ahmose. These two kings led the struggle against the Hyksos during the Second Intermediate period; Ahmose drove the invaders out and founded the 18th Dynasty. Necklaces decorated with fly pendants were given as a reward to soldiers for their valor on the battlefield.
