Shabti of Tutankhamun

This shabti, or funerary statuette, was found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. A chapter from the Book of the Dead is inscribed on the front of the shabti asking that it work on behalf of the deceased in the afterlife. The tomb of Tutankhamun contained 413 shabtis, one workmen for each day of the year, 36 overseers, and 12 supervisors.
