Ramesses II as a Sphinx

Ramesses II is one of the most celebrated kings in Egyptian history. This statue of the king shows him in the form of sphinx, presenting a vase with a lid shaped like a ram's head, symbol of the god Amun. In the 21st year of his reign, Ramesses II signed the treaty of Kadesh, history’s first known peace treaty, with the Hittites.
