Falcon-headed Crocodile

This model of a crocodile with a falcon’s head may be a form of the crocodile god, Sobek. This particular form most likely represents Soknopaios, “Sobek, lord of the island,” who was worshipped throughout the Fayum from the 2nd century BC through the 3rd century AD. The original statue was discovered in al-Mansura.
