Head of Xenophon

This sculpture portrays the soldier and historian Xenophon (ca. 431-355 BC). He is best known for his Anabsis (“The Expedition), in which he recorded the march of the “ten thousand,” a band of Greek mercenaries who fought against the Persian Empire.
