Tile with Geometric Motifs

Tiles of this type – with a star-based geometric pattern – were used to decorate Cairene sabils (public drinking fountain), kuttabs (Qur’anic school), and houses that date to the Ottoman period of Egypt. The pattern derives from North African prototypes; similar tiles can be found in mosques and secular buildings across North Africa.
