Despite centuries of pillage by adventurers and collectors,
Egypt still holds by far the most extensive and impressive collection
of ancient Egyptian artifacts in the world. These priceless objects range
from jewels to statues, and date from the prehistoric era through the Islamic
period. As part of its commitment to sharing Egypt’s heritage with the world,
the SCA supports exhibitions both at
home and abroad.
Exhibitions held in Egypt, often produced in cooperation with
various international institutions, offer Egyptians and international visitors a chance to explore
a variety of themes. Recent examples have included exhibitions focused on particular periods or types
of artifacts, and shows celebrating the archaeological achievements of our foreign colleagues. Traveling
exhibitions, in addition to helping raise funds that help us protect our shared cultural heritage, bring
the splendors of Egypt’s ancient civilizations to a world audience. If your museum or other cultural institution
would like to request a loan of Egyptian antiquities, please
