Introduction

The Ministry of State for Antiquities is responsible for the protection of Egypt’s heritage, and for the responsible management of sites and museums throughout the country. For this reason, the SCA has policies, procedures, and regulations in place for foreign excavators, as well as scholars who wish to conduct research at museums. The media are also required to abide by the SCA’s policies and regulations.

Information is also available here for visitors interested in entering sites that are normally closed to the public. In addition, those who are interested holding special events such as weddings or other functions at antiquities sites may consult the rules and regulations found in this section.

Please note that permission to access sites is granted solely at the discretion of the Ministry of State for Antiquities, and may be denied for any reason. We appreciate your consideration in respecting and abiding by the policies, procedures, and regulations of the MSA. Your cooperation is an essential contribution to our efforts to protect the heritage that we all share.
