Sites - Rules and Regulations

General Rules to Follow at All Sites

Please follow these simple, basic rules when you visit the monuments. Be careful and thoughtful, and help protect our cultural heritage.

1. DO NOT TOUCH! The oils in your hands will damage stone, brick, and especially pigments.

2. Be careful also with all bags and backpacks, as you can do a great deal of damage with these. If you have a backpack, leave it outside with the guard or carry it in front of you.

3. DO NOT WRITE ON THE MONUMENTS! Ancient graffiti is interesting; modern graffiti is criminal.

4. DO NOT LEAVE ANY TRASH ON THE SITE. This includes cigarette butts.
